About Me

My name is L-J ShenFilerman, and I am a writer and director from Massachusetts. I am currently attending Chapman University’s Dodge College of Film and Media Arts with an Emphasis in Directing (BFA Expected May 2027).

Compelled to tell stories from a young age, I’ve been making films for as long as I can remember. I am ever curious about people and the world and find beauty in how filmmaking is an art form based fundamentally in vulnerability and empathy. As an artist dedicated to exploring the language of film, I am constantly working to refine and develop my craft across multiple disciplines including cinematography, photography, editing, composing, sound design and advertising. When I’m not making art, I’m probably eating Chinese soup dumplings.
